I feel so unimportant to the people I care most about.

existing
Living is weird
The simple task of being alive -existing as a human being- is incredibly overwhelming. It's no wonder the world is such a mad place. With billions of people roaming around trying their hardest to do what is supposed to be the most basic and simple task of all: being. Who even knows if we're going this right? There are no real guide books and no road maps. And everything you do is learned by trail and error. Do we even have control of who we are, or are we just programmed to be what we are at conception? If my DNA is in charge of how I look and what my temperament is, what say do I really have? Yes, we can change some things. And I do believe in free will. But how much of ourselves are we truly able to change. Or is everything already written in stone during conception? I'd like the comfort of knowing I can being anything or anyone I'd like, but can I really?

A Real Good Listener
And sometimes when you're on you're really fucking on
And your friends they sing along and they love you
But the lows are so extreme that the good seems fucking cheap
And it teases you for weeks in its absense
But you'll fight and you'll make it through
You'll fake it if you have to
And you'll show up for work with a smile
And you'll be be better you'll be smarter
More grown up and a better daughter
Or son and a real good friend
And you'll be awake and you'll be alert
You'll be positive though it hurts
And you'll laugh and embrace all your friends
And you'll be a real good listener
You'll be honest you'll be brave
You'll be handsome you'll be beautiful
You'll be happy
And your friends they sing along and they love you
But the lows are so extreme that the good seems fucking cheap
And it teases you for weeks in its absense
But you'll fight and you'll make it through
You'll fake it if you have to
And you'll show up for work with a smile
And you'll be be better you'll be smarter
More grown up and a better daughter
Or son and a real good friend
And you'll be awake and you'll be alert
You'll be positive though it hurts
And you'll laugh and embrace all your friends
And you'll be a real good listener
You'll be honest you'll be brave
You'll be handsome you'll be beautiful
You'll be happy

Well Helloween
Halloween was pretty busy for me. Garrett had his birthday on the 26th. He turned 25, got drunk and set himself as well as my best friend on fire due to a flaming shot gone awry. Nonetheless, it was a great night. The 28th Garrett and his band (Afore Notation) played a show at a well-known bar in Birmingham called Speakeasy which is known for it's dollar wells on Wednesday nights and also for it's large crowds of "hipster" kids which it tends to attract because of afore mentioned cheap drinks. Anyway, the show was a huge success. It brought out a very large crowd and gave us a chance to see all our friends dressed up in their costumes. I managed to get some photos in as well as a video from Garrett's show. We made our own costumes this year with a funny theme in mind. We tend to be homebodies and bail out on people a lot. So in lieu of that we went as flakes! Garrett made a cardboard cutout of a corn flake and I made one of a snow flake. I would have made our dog, Bruce a dandruff flake if I had the time. So, without further adieu:
And I'll leave you with an Afore Notation video. My camera is supposed to adjust to movement, which it failed to do. So I do apologize for the crappy footage; however, it'll sound just as great from any angle.
Left: Garrett (corn flake) Right: Me (snow flake)
Every year I make Garrett a cake for his birthday. He always asks for peanut butter.

And now the rest of the costumes.
Ben (the guitarist) went as Cobra Commander
Chris (the bassist) went as Earl from My Name is Earl
Brandon (the drummer and new to the band) went as a guy with a cape. I know, real original.
Thayer (one of the guitarists) went as X-Pac
Peter and his band (Selling Mary) went as a Mariachi Band
Alexa went as Selena
Don't know who this guy is, but his costume was badass. The guy from Slingblade
Ian was Andrew WK (after the brick)
